God Moved First

Scripture:

“For your Maker is your husband… your Redeemer.”

Isaiah 54:5

Devotional:

Before we talk marriage, roles, preparation, or trimming wicks - we start with the heart of it all: God made the first move.

Just like Pastor Earl & Gail stepping out in faith 37 years ago, God stepped toward us before we ever stepped toward Him. That’s why Center Church stands today. That’s why you’re reading this. He chose you before you chose Him. He pursued you before you noticed Him.

He said “yes” before you ever said it back.

This shifts everything. We don’t submit to earn love - we submit because we’re already loved. We don’t live holy to get God’s attention - we live holy because we have His attention.

Reflective Questions:

1. Where am I still performing for God instead of responding to Him?

2. Do I see myself as chosen, or as someone trying to earn acceptance?

3. What would change if I lived from God’s “yes” instead of trying to earn one?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for moving first. Help me live from acceptance, not attempt to perform works toward it. Teach me to trust that I’m already pursued and already wanted. Amen.
