Choosing To Forgive
Key Scripture:
Ephesians 4:31–32
Forgiveness is not always easy, but it is always necessary. It is not about excusing what happened or pretending it did not hurt. It is about choosing to release someone into God’s hands and refusing to let that offense define your heart.
Unforgiveness keeps us tied to the past. Forgiveness allows us to move forward into what God is doing now.
Pastor Earl emphasized that bitterness can grow if it is left unchecked. But the opposite is also true—freedom grows when we choose to forgive.
God has forgiven us fully. From that place, we learn to extend forgiveness to others.
Reflective Questions:
1. Who do I need to forgive, even if it feels difficult?
2. What has unforgiveness been costing me?
3. What might freedom look like on the other side of forgiveness?
Prayer:
Lord, give me the strength to forgive. I release those who have hurt me into Your hands. Heal what has been broken in me and teach me to walk in freedom.
Action Step:
Say out loud: “I choose to forgive ___.” Be specific.
