Holy Spirit: Sends You

Jul 11, 2025

SCRIPTURE:

John 20:21–22 “Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’ And with that He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”

DEVOTIONAL:

Jesus didn’t save you to sit still. He filled you with His Spirit to send you.

In John 20, Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit onto His disciples and then commissions them. The sending and the Spirit go hand in hand. The moment we receive the Holy Spirit, we also receive a mission—to carry Jesus into the world around us.

Pastor Steve reminded us that we are ambassadors of heaven. We’ve been marked by the Spirit not just for personal transformation, but for Kingdom purpose. The Spirit gives you boldness to speak, grace to serve, love to reach, and wisdom to walk in your assignment. Whether you’re leading worship, raising kids, working a job, or talking story with someone over coffee—you are sent.

You don’t need a microphone or platform to make impact. You just need to walk in obedience and be willing. The Holy Spirit has already equipped and empowered you—now He’s sending you to be light in a dark world.

QUESTIONS:

1. Do I view myself as “sent”—or am I waiting for a more perfect moment to live out my "God-given mission"?

2. Where (or to whom) is the Holy Spirit sending me right now?

3. What’s holding me back from saying yes to that assignment?

PRAYER:

Holy Spirit, thank You for not only living in me but sending me. Help me to stop waiting for perfect conditions or feeling “ready.” I say yes today. Open my eyes to the opportunities around me to represent Jesus. Use me in both big and small ways to bring heaven to earth - here I am Lord, send me!

ACTION STEP:

Text, call, or pray with someone you feel God placing on your heart. This week, look for a divine appointment—a moment where God prompts you to love, speak, or serve—and respond immediately. Don’t overthink it. Just obey.
