Power With Humility
Scripture:
“He must become greater; I must become less. John 3:30
One of the biggest dangers of carrying influence, gifting, or spiritual authority is making it about ourselves. Pastor Steve reminded us that the power of God was never meant to glorify us, it was always meant to glorify Him.
In today’s culture, it’s easy to build personal brands, platforms, and recognition. Even spiritually, we can begin craving validation more than obedience. But true power carries humility. It understands that without God, we have nothing.
Jesus demonstrated power while remaining completely surrendered to the Father. He healed people, performed miracles, and changed lives, yet continually pointed back to God’s will and glory. That’s our example.
When we stay humble, we remain usable. Humility protects our hearts from turning ministry, gifting, or influence into self-promotion.
Reflective Questions:
1. Are there areas where pride has slowly crept into my heart?
2. Do I secretly desire recognition more than obedience?
3. How can I better reflect humility in my walk with God?
Prayer:
Father, keep my heart humble before You. Protect me from pride and self-centeredness. Remind me that every gift, opportunity, and blessing comes from You. Let my life always point back to Your goodness instead of my own ability. Amen.
Action Step:
Serve or encourage someone today without expecting acknowledgment or recognition.
