Building on the Rock
Scripture:
Matthew 7:24
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Devotional:
A house with a weak foundation will collapse in storms. In the same way, if our relationship with God isn’t solid, we won’t stand when life gets hard. Staying connected to Him is how we build on the rock. Restoration requires action: hearing Jesus’ words and doing them.
Storms reveal the strength of our connection. If we’re grounded in God, the winds may blow, but we’ll remain standing. Restoration doesn’t mean no storms - it means the storms don’t destroy us because we’re plugged into the Rock.
Reflective Questions:
1. Am I hearing God’s Word but failing to practice it?
2. Where has my “foundation” been shaken lately, and what is God teaching me?
3. How can I strengthen my connection to the Rock today?
Prayer:
Lord, I want my life built on You, not on sand. Restore me with Your truth and make me strong enough to endure every storm. Keep me connected to You, my firm foundation.
Action Step: Put one specific scripture into practice today - not just reading it, but living it out.
