The Weight That Slows Us Down
Key Scripture:
Hebrews 12:1
Hebrews tells us to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Not everything that weighs us down is obvious sin - sometimes it is unresolved pain, disappointment, or unforgiveness that quietly slows us down.
Pastor Steve reminded us a couple weeks ago that the disciples were told to wait in expectation for what God promised. But imagine trying to run forward while carrying unnecessary weight. You may still be moving, but not freely.
Unforgiveness does not just affect our relationships; it affects our spiritual momentum. It makes obedience heavier than it needs to be. It clouds clarity and drains strength.
God invites us to lay those weights down so we can run with endurance.
Reflective Questions:
1. What feels heavy in my life right now?
2. Is there something I need to release in order to move forward?
3. Have I normalized carrying what God never asked me to hold?
Prayer:
Lord, show me what is weighing me down. I don’t want to carry things that You have already invited me to release. Help me walk in freedom and move forward with clarity.
Action Step:
Write down what feels heavy, then intentionally give it to God in prayer.
