More Than Words

Scripture:

“For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.”

1 Corinthians 4:20

Devotional:

Talk can sound spiritual but still miss the Spirit. The early church didn’t grow because of perfect words—they grew because of presence. Paul reminds us that the Kingdom isn’t proven through speech; it’s revealed through power. Not the loud kind—the lasting kind.

Pastor Steve reminded us that there’s a difference between knowing about God and living from God. True power shows up when our words align with our walk. It’s how we forgive when it hurts, stay faithful when it’s slow, and choose peace when we’re misunderstood. That’s not performance—it’s transformation.

Real Kingdom power isn’t flashy—it’s faithful. It’s the unseen strength that comes when the Holy Spirit is allowed to lead your responses, not your emotions. When we live yielded to Him, our lives preach louder than our lips ever could.

Reflect:

1. Where have I been relying more on words than on God’s presence?

2. What would it look like for my actions to carry Kingdom power this week?

3. Where might the Spirit be asking me to respond quietly, not just speak loudly?

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, fill my words with weight. Teach me to speak when You lead and to stay silent when You move. Let my life carry evidence of Your presence—power that changes atmospheres, not just opinions. Amen.

Action Step:

Find one area where you’ve been talking about change—then live it. Choose one small, Spirit-led action that puts God’s power into practice this week (forgive, give, serve, or pray for someone in need).
