What Is My Real Desire?

Oct 23, 2026

Scripture: Matthew 8:1–4

Throughout this passage, we see a man who approached Jesus with a desperate need, acknowledged Him as Lord, experienced His compassion, and received a miracle.

But Tino's message leaves us with an important question: What is my real desire when I seek the hand of the Lord? Is it simply to receive an answer? To experience a breakthrough? To have a problem removed? Or is our greatest desire to know Jesus Himself?

There's nothing wrong with bringing our needs before God. He invites us to come to Him. But our relationship with Him was never meant to revolve only around what we can receive.

Jesus is more than our healer, provider, and protector. He is Lord.

When we truly recognize Him as Lord, our prayers begin to change. We don't just ask Him to move in our circumstances; we invite Him to transform our hearts. We don't simply seek His blessings; we seek His presence.

And as we surrender to Him, our lives become a testimony that points others back to Jesus.

Reflection:

If God didn't answer my prayers the way I wanted, would He still be Lord over my life?

Prayer:

Jesus, You are worthy of my worship, not because of what You give me, but because of who You are. Search my heart and purify my motives. Let my greatest desire always be to know You, love You, and follow You. Amen.
