What Has Your Attention?
Scripture: Haggai 1:2β4 | Matthew 6:33
Life has a way of filling every moment. Between work, family, responsibilities, and personal goals, we can become so focused on what we're building that we unintentionally neglect our relationship with God.
In Haggai, God's people had been busy building their own homes while His temple remained unfinished. The issue wasn't that they had responsibilities. It was that they had allowed those responsibilities to take priority over what God had called them to do.
The same can happen in our lives. Even good things can become distractions when they begin to occupy the place that belongs to Jesus. Putting Jesus first doesn't mean removing everything else from our lives. It means allowing Him to shape everything in our lives.
Today, consider what has been receiving your attention. Is Jesus at the center of it all, or have you been giving Him whatever time remains?
Reflection Questions:
1. What has been receiving most of my time, attention, and energy lately?
2. What would it look like to intentionally seek Jesus first in my daily routine?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me recognize anything that has taken priority over You. Teach me to seek Your kingdom first and invite You into every area of my life. Realign my heart so that everything I do flows from my relationship with You. In Jesus' name, amen.
