The Glory that Fades
Scripture:
2 Corinthians 3:7–11
Devotional:
Moses came down from Mount Sinai with a radiant face after encountering God. That glory was real—but it faded. The Law revealed God’s holiness, but it could never restore the heart. It pointed to righteousness but couldn’t produce it. Pastor Steve reminded us that the glory of the Law was only a shadow of something greater to come: Jesus. God didn’t stop at revealing His holiness—He moved toward us in restoration, through His Son.
The Law is like a speed limit sign on the highway—it tells you when you’re going too fast, but it doesn’t stop the car. It can alert you, but it can’t change your direction. In the same way, the Law shows us when we’re off-course, when we’ve broken something—but it doesn’t give us the power to drive differently. That’s why Jesus came—not to erase the signs, but to give us the Spirit who can truly lead us.
Reflection Questions:
1. Am I still living under the pressure to “measure up” instead of living in God’s grace?
2. What “speed limit signs” keep popping up in my life—constant reminders of failure, without hope of change?
3. Where do I need the Spirit’s help to actually change direction, not just feel guilty?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving me more than just rules—you gave me Yourself. I confess the places I still try to earn love or prove my worth. Remove the veil from my eyes and heart. Help me recognize when I’ve slipped back into law-based thinking and restore me into the freedom You paid for. Let Your Spirit awaken me again to Your unfading glory.
Action Step:
Write down a habit, mindset, or spiritual burden you've carried that feels rooted in performance. Pray over it and speak: “I am no longer under the law but under grace.”
