The Indwelling Holy Spirit

- 2 Corinthians 3:17–18
DEVOTIONAL:
Scripture reveals an astounding truth: those who follow Jesus are the very temple of God. His Spirit doesn’t just rest upon us—it lives within us. This changes everything. The Holy Spirit is not distant or occasional; He is constant, close, and personal.
Because of His presence, believers are not left to navigate life alone. The Holy Spirit brings freedom from shame, fear, and sin, and He leads us into transformation. This transformation is not instant, but it is ongoing. As believers behold Christ and walk with the Spirit, they are gradually changed to reflect His image more and more.
To be a dwelling place for the Spirit is both a gift and a responsibility. It invites reflection on how we live, how we view ourselves, and how we treat others who also carry the Spirit of God. With each surrendered moment, the Spirit continues His work—shaping hearts, renewing minds, and freeing us to live as sons and daughters of God.
QUESTIONS:
1. What would change about the way I live, think, or speak if I truly understood that I carry the presence of God within me at all times?
2. Are there areas of my life where I still act as if I’m in control, rather than allowing the Holy Spirit to lead and shape me? Why do I find it difficult to surrender those areas?
3. How do I respond when I sense the Spirit prompting me toward growth or correction? Do I welcome His work, or do I resist it out of fear, pride, or comfort?
PRAYER:
Holy Spirit, thank You for making Your home in me Help me to live with the awareness that we are Your dwelling place. Lead me in freedom, and teach me to surrender the areas that still need Your transformation. May my life reflect the beauty, power, and holiness of Jesus more each day. In His name, amen.
