Why The Helmet Matters

Dec 29, 2025

Scripture:

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11

Devotional:

Pastor Earl reminded us that the helmet of salvation isn’t just symbolic—it’s strategic. The enemy’s primary tactic isn’t force; it’s deception. If he can influence what we believe, he can influence how we live. That’s why the helmet covers the head—both the front and the back. It protects what we think about the future and what we replay from the past.

Salvation isn’t just about eternity; it’s about identity. When we forget who we are in Christ, lies start to sound believable. Doubt, fear, shame, and comparison creep in quietly. The helmet of salvation reminds us: I belong to Jesus. My mind doesn’t have to agree with every thought that passes through it.

Reflection Questions:

1. What kinds of thoughts tend to repeat in my mind when I’m tired or overwhelmed?

2. Are those thoughts lining up with who God says I am?

3. What does it look like for me to intentionally “put on” the helmet of salvation each day?

Prayer:

God, thank You for saving me and giving me a new identity. Help me recognize when thoughts don’t come from You. Teach me to guard my mind and remember who I belong to. I want to live from truth, not fear or lies. Amen.

Action Step:

Write down one recurring negative thought you’ve been believing. Next to it, write a truth from Scripture that replaces it.
