The Harvest is Out There
Scripture:
“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’”
Matthew 9:37–38
Devotional:
Jesus never described the harvest as being inside the church walls - it has always been out there. Pastor Greg reminded us that the fields are ripe, but if we never step outside in faith, we’ll miss the opportunity to gather what God has prepared. The church is where we are equipped, but the world is where we are sent.
When Pastor Greg shared his testimony about serving the houseless community in Hilo, it became clear: the harvest looks like people in need of hope, comfort, and Jesus. Each of us has been called to leave the comfort of our seats and step into the mission.
Questions:
1. Who in your life might be part of the “harvest field” God is sending you to?
2. What fears keep you from stepping out?
Prayer:
Lord of the harvest, give me courage to go where You send me. Open my eyes to the people around me who need Your love. Amen.
Action Step:
Pray specifically today for one person outside the church who you can be a light to this week.
