Dunamis: Power That Transforms

Scripture:

“But you will receive power (dunamis) when the Holy Spirit comes upon you…”

Acts 1:8

Devotional:

Dunamis is the word for explosive, miracle-working power - but it’s also the power that transforms a timid heart into a bold witness. Too often we think dunamis is about signs - but in Acts, the first evidence wasn’t fireworks, it was fruit.

The same power that healed the sick also softened hearts, united believers, and gave courage in persecution. Power was shown not just in what they did but in who they became.

Pastor Steve reminded us that miracles are a byproduct of His power, not the goal. So let’s build on that truth: dunamis isn’t meant to make us impressive - it’s meant to make us impactful. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live differently, forgive deeply, and love boldly.

Prayer:

Lord, let Your dunamis power transform my heart before it ever shows in my hands. Change me from the inside out so my life points to You.

Do one Spirit-led act of kindness today, something no one sees but God. Quiet obedience can release loud power.
